Nashville’s evolution into an entertainment mecca has included an explosion in our local beer culture. There are over 20 breweries in and around Music City—enough taprooms to make you tap out!

And if there’s one thing we do right in the Germantown ‘hood, it’s beer.  Let’s hop to it! Germantown’s best breweries are comin’ at ya down the Cumberland.

Bearded Iris Brewing is one of the latest places you can raise a stein in Germantown. Zagat talks up their old-world brewing techniques and Southern charm. Thrillist recommends the Bearded Iris Homestyle IPA, brewed with oats and Mosaic hops; it’s the flagship of their hoppy flight of offerings.

Lyn H. yelps, “If you are an IPA fan, don’t miss this. Try them all. Scatterbrain or Homestyle and take some cans to go.”

They sport an art deco aesthetic in a speakeasy space. You can bring your own food to their kid-friendly taproom. The “Cozy velvet armchairs,” observes Zagat ,“old-school wooden bar, crystal chandeliers and mismatched dining chairs add a vintage, eclectic vibe.”

Little Harpeth Brewing specializes in German-style lagers popular in local restaurants. Yelper Rachel M. was impressed by the brewery’s sustainability efforts, not to mention the beer. She observes, “they are doing something different than the IPA and sours I’ve come to expect from most craft breweries.” Their “Chicken Scratch” lager is a brew frequently mentioned in Little Harpeth’s most glowing reviews.

Their taproom has “killer” views of the city and an industrial vibe, says Nashville Guru, with “tables and chairs… surrounded by brewing equipment, kegs, and bags of brewing ingredients.” The Guru recommends the pretzel, baked fresh by local artisans at Village Bakery and Provisions. This place is German all the way down to its lederhosen! Belly up to the bar and order a pint of “PROST! Oktoberfest.”

Summoning the energy of Nashville, Honky Tonk Brewery aims to connect to Music City’s rhythmic roots. Their labeling is beautiful: a shimmering Chinese dragon coils around each can of their signature West Coast IPA. It’s fair to say, Honky Tonk’s toe-tappin’ taproom is certainly making a sudsy splash on the Nashville beer scene.

They get “Wicked Good!” reviews on TripAdvisor. One reviewer raves, “Some of the best beers in Nashville! They haven’t been around long but they are well on their way to being one of the top breweries in Nashville.”

Try any of Germantown’s bopping new breweries this weekend or at a happy hour hoedown at quitting time. The smooth suds will be music to your mouth!
