Mother’s Day is fast approaching; it’s time to reserve a table and treat the woman who brought us into this world with a nice, relaxing Sunday brunch.

Nashville’s famous food scene provides a plethora of options to choose from—but for Mom, nothing but the best will do. If you’re really looking to show your mother how much you appreciate her, we have three restaurant suggestions that would fit the bill perfectly.

HENRIETTA RED

Henrietta Red was written up in GQ two weeks ago as one of the “Best New Restaurants in America”, and for good reason—the Germantown staple (operated by none other than Nashville-native Julia Sullivan) breathes new, invigorating life into the American Bisto genre.  The restaurant is particularly famous for its seafood, but honestly, everything on the eclectic American menu is to-die-for. From the brunch selection, we particularly loved the Crab Cakes and the Sausage & Egg Biscuit; pair either of those with the Roger d’Anoia Cava mimosas, and this is sure to be Mom’s best Mother’s Day yet!

5TH & TAYLOR

We’ve suggested 5th & Taylor as a great celebratory spot before, and we’ll suggest it again; this homage to American nostalgia is just too perfect to leave off the list.  Compared to our other brunch suggestions, 5th & Taylor has a relatively small menu—which we actually prefer for a small, intimate celebration like we might have on Mother’s day.  Of the brunch entrees, we can’t recommend the Chicken Sausage Scramble highly enough—with the Corned Beef Hash coming in a close second. Don’t forget to start by sharing a plate of their famous Monkey Bread!

MONELL’S

No list of go-to Mother’s Day brunch spots would be complete without mentioning the Monell’s Dining & Catering Germantown location.  For the uninitiated, Monell’s serves its food “family style”—meaning that all parties are seated at a fifteen person communal table.  After sitting down, the “rules of the meal” are presented to the diners (no phones, pass all dishes to the left, and if you need refills on anything just ask).  Then the servers carry out plate after plate of food—and don’t stop until everyone has stuffed themselves to the brim. It’s a perfect way to celebrate family, without needing to cook anything or clean anything up.  Make sure you get your hands on the Biscuits & Gravy when it comes around!

When it comes to Moms, it’s only fitting that we set aside one day a year to express our collective appreciation.  Whatever your Mom loves, and however you want to celebrate with her, Nashville has what you need to make this Sunday a Mother’s Day to remember!
